NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - The Salvation Army announced on Wednesday that the Newport, KY Community Center is seeking people that would like to participate in its 2ndAnnual Miles for Smiles Bike Tour.

FORT THOMAS, KY (FOX19) - The Highlands High School Art Department is pleased to display artwork from its advanced art classes at Fort Thomas Coffee. The opening reception celebrating the student work will be at Fort Thomas Coffee on Friday, April 12 from 6-8pm, with the exhibit running from April 12 through April 15, 2013.

The show features work from 60 art students in Drawing and Painting, Advanced Art and Advanced Placement Art classes. Works include paintings, watercolors, drawings, digital photograph, engraving prints and more.

The show is open to the public. Fort Thomas Coffee is located on North Fort Thomas Avenue.

Circus Mojo International College Circus Festival Is May 3 to 5

(FOX19)  - College circus groups from across the globe and across the United States are coming to Ludlow, Kentucky May 3 to 5 for Circus Mojo’s first ever International College Circus Festival. The three-day event will include performances for families, workshops for college aged students, and concluding with interviews for fun local jobs with Circus Mojo and volunteer opportunities with partner circuses abroad.

The International College Circus Festival will be held at Circus Mojo headquarters: 326 Elm St; Ludlow, Kentucky 41016.

TERRACE PARK, OH (FOX19) - Mariemont High School freshman Hadley George recently created a social group for teens with Type One Diabetes. The group is called Type One Teens and the first meeting is Tuesday, April 9 at Stars Lane Bowling in Newport on the Levee from 6-8pm.

Hadley, who was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes at the age of 4, finds support in her friendships with those in a similar position. “Through ten years of experiences I have realized how critical it is to have friends with Type One; having friends who are going through similar experiences allows you to gain support and advice.”

Registration still open for NKU 'Spring into Service'

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY (FOX19) - The Northern Kentucky University Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement will host "Spring into Service" to marshal a corps of students, faculty and citizens for a morning of hands-on volunteering this Saturday, April 13.

            The center is collaborating with WNKU, the City of Highland Heights, Pantry of Hope of First Baptist Church, Highland Heights Community Gardens and Giving Fields (an organization who harvests fresh produce to benefit local food pantries and on-site feeding organizations).

            Sign-in and free breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. on NKU's campus. Students, faculty, alumni and staff along with members of the community will gather before dispersing to provide service to local nonprofit organizations and businesses. At noon, volunteers are invited to return to NKU for a free celebratory lunch.

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - Swing into Spring at the Levee. If you love to swing dance or just enjoy the smooth sounds of a big band, then this is the event for you.

Come join Newport on the Levee for a night of swing dancing fun inside Locomotion on the Levee featuring the Jump ‘n’ Jive Show Band! The event will take place on Wednesday, April 10 from 7 – 9 pm. Free swing dance lessons will be held from 6:30 - 7 PM. This event is free to the public.

Groundbreaking held for Bishop Brossart expansion

ALEXANDRIA, KY (FOX19)- Monday marked the official groundbreaking ceremony for a $7.5 million expansion to Bishop Brossart High School.

The school located in Alexandria, KY will go through a complete transformation as several new facilities will be added, including a new chapel, theatre and performing arts center and a new two-story entrance atrium.

The expansion project is expected to be completed for the 2014-15 school year.
