CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Area O’Charley’s will be among the first in the country to be part of O’Charley’s “Free Pie Wednesdays.” The mid-week reward, which begins April 17, will be an opportunity for customers to try five new pie options recently added to the menu as a sincere “thank you” from O’Charley’s.

“Free Pie Wednesdays” will be available at Cincinnati, West Chester, Springdale, Milford, Franklin, Cold Spring, Harrison, and Florence O’Charley’s locations.

Florence, KY (April 11, 2013) – Gateway Community and Technical College will host an evening for high school students and their parents to tour the college’s high-performance labs and learn about manufacturing careers, college credit available in high school, and apprenticeships.  The Advanced Manufacturing Expo is April 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Center for Advanced Manufacturing on the Boone Campus, 500 Technology Way, Florence.

The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are needed. In addition to college officials, Gateway’s industry partners will be on hand to discuss career opportunities and educational requirements with parents and students.

“The expo is designed to give parents and students a chance to learn more about the exciting and high-paying careers that are available in the high-performance production environment,” said Carissa Schutzman, Gateway’s dean of Workforce Solutions.

BURLINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A planned workshop will teach residents how to help keep local ponds healthy throughout the summer.

The class is being held on Sat., April 27 from 9:00 a.m. - noon at Northern Kentucky University.

Participants should meet in Room SC 167 of the Dorothy W. Herrmann Natural Science Center and dress for the weather and lab work. Parking will be free if you park in the Kenton Drive Parking Garage - just bring your ticket to the workshop for validation.

The workshop will focus on how you can identify certain algal blooms with the naked eye and what you can do to remedy specific problems. We’ll look at preventative measures and Best Management Practices that work to keep excessive nutrients out of your lake or pond.  We’ll also use some simple tests to determine if your algae may be harmful or not.
