This is the eighth consecutive year that students from NKU have enrolled in ESSAM. This year’s group includes Matthew Kearns, Kelly Kroger, Kevin Niehaus, Sara Niemczynski, Christine O’Neill, Bethany Pinney, Michael Schmidt and Cornel TerreBlanche.

Jim Bast, director of the NKU MBA program, also made the trip.

“Students are assigned to a multi-cultural project group with the purpose of studying a strategic issue in a local company,” Bast said.

Mary Ann Donelan Knows She Can

Mary Ann Donelan Knows She Can

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - When Mary Ann Donelan crosses the finish line of the Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI)’s “Know You Can” 5K (formerly Spring Light 5K) on August 7, it will mark her 12th year of giving back to the agency one step at a time.

Born without irises in her eyes, Donelan said, CABVI’s services and adaptive aids have meant the difference of being independent and doing what she is passionate about, which is helping to encourage the potential in children through her job in a day care center.  Magnification devices allow her to read documents and mail, and better interact with the children. The adaptive software that she received and was trained on by CABVI’s Access Technology Service allow her to use her computer.

“Before CABVI, I just did the best that I could,” said Donelan.

Rocks thrown from Newport hillside injure Independence couple

Rocks thrown from Newport hillside injure Independence couple

If you live in Newport or Bellevue, police say someone has been hurling rocks from overpasses and hillsides, creating a traffic nightmare for motorists.

It's a dangerous situation, with the latest crime happened near the Newport Exit 4 on ramp getting onto I-471 South. It's the exit near the brand new Newport Target store.

Amber Rickels and her husband had just left the Target in Newport Wednesday night and were driving up the ramp to get onto I-471 South. Their night had a calamitous ending, when someone threw rocks off the hillside, crashing through their sunroof.

Rickels and her husband are lucky they were not hurt worse.

"I just have little pieces of glass in the side of my face and I have it in my arms," said Rickels. "My husband had it in his eyes."

"It's all in this side," she said gesturing to the right side of her face. "Feels like splinters."
