MAYSVILLE, KY (FOX19) - Two toddlers are killed during a house fire in Maysville, Ky.

The children's step-grandfather, Daniel Farra, says 3-year-old Brayden Henderson and 2-year-old Kaydence Henderson were killed in the fire.

Farra said the children were staying with their aunt and her boyfriend in an 1 1/2-story, wood-frame house on the 1400 block of E. Third Street. The house sat next to the railroad tracks on the edge of town.

Police said the fire broke out around 1:39 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

"We responded here and found the house fully engulfed in flames," said Lt. Justin Horch of Maysville Police. "At that time, there were a man and female outside. They had sustained some injuries in the hospital Meadowview Local Regional for treatment."

High at home: how to keep it from happening to your teen

WILMINGTON, NC (WSFX) - With household items like nutmeg making headlines as ways to get high at home, parents have their hands full.

That includes Sherry DelVecchio, a Wilmington, N.C. mother who wants to protect her 14-year-old son, Nicolas, as long as she can.

DelVecchio knows Nicolas is a good kid, but she also knows it's easy for middle schoolers to experiment with all kinds of drugs without ever leaving home.

That's why she agreed to open up her house and her cabinets to a drug prevention counselor and find out what she could do better.

John Dail is part of Wilmington's Coastal Horizons Prevention Program. He agreed to walk through the DelVecchio residence and advise Sherry on any at-home highs to watch out for and how to prevent Nicolas from experimenting with drugs.

He began his inspection under the kitchen sink, where he spotted an aerosol cleaner.

How to find a good tax preparer

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Making sure you pick the right person to do your taxes can be a difficult task.

Out of people who do taxes, 70 percent use a tax preparer to do our taxes, 20 percent use some kind of software, and 10 percent do it the old fashioned way.

If you can't or just won't do your taxes yourself, you are going to need some help. Hire the wrong person and you could end up with a real mess on your hands.

"What you don't want is someone who says that merely, 'I can get you the highest refund,'" said Nathan Bachrach, FOX19 Financial Analyst. "Somebody who says that my fee is based upon a percentage of the refund that you get, because number one, that's illegal."

Al Pearlman, a certified public accountant with Burkhardt and Company in Milford, Ohio, says the key to avoiding unqualified or dishonest prepares is asking the right questions.
