Local High School students to compete in national WorldQuest competiton

KY (FOX19) - A team of four students from St. Henry’s District high School will compete in the 11th Annual Academic WorldQuest™ National Competition on Saturday, April 27th at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

Academic WorldQuest, hosted by the World Affairs Councils of America (WACA), is a team competition testing high school students’ knowledge of international affairs, current events and foreign policy topics.

The four St. Henry’s District high School students competing in Washington are among the over 200 finalists from over 4,000 students that competed in regional qualifier competitions hosted by local World Affairs Councils, from Alaska and Hawaii to Florida.

Runners to participate in 2.62 mile 'Fun Run/Walk' for Boston

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- Bob Roncker's Running Spots will be participating with running stores throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky and across America in "Runners for Boston" fun runwalks on Monday, April 22 at 6:30 p.m.

The idea is to bring the community of runners and walkers and those who want peace and solidarity together to show support for those affected by the Boston Marathon bombings on April 15.

Participants are encouraged to wear the iconic blue and yellow of the Boston Marathon or any race tee shirt.  All donations are encouraged to be made to The One Fund, http://onefundboston.org.

3 children hurt in crash on I-471

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY (FOX19)- Four people, including three children, were taken to the hospital after a crash Monday morning on Interstate 471.

It happened just after 5 a.m. on northbound I-471 near I-275.

Investigators believe the mini van rolled at least three times. Two children were taken to Children's Hospital in Cincinnati and the other child was taken to St. Elizabeth Fort Thomas.

None of the injuries are considered life threatening. Everyone was wearing a seatbelt.

Special Olympics tennis comes to Northern Ky.

FT. THOMAS, KY (FOX19)- Dozens of athletes took the court on Sunday for a Special Olympics tennis clinic.

Athletes met at Tower Park Courts in Fort Thomas for an introduction to the sport and personal instruction. Highlands High School's tennis team was on hand to assist the athletes.

The Special Olympics are the world's largest program of sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - The entire summer line up was announced on Friday for the Newport on the Levee concert series.

Concerts are held on the Plaza by the Aquarium at Newport on the Levee every Thursday night, May 23 through September 5 (excluding July 4) 7:00pm - 10:00pm.

Health Dept: 2 more flu deaths reported in NKY, including child

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19)- The Northern Kentucky Health Department says two additional deaths have been reported as a result of the influenza virus.

That brings the total number of flu deaths in the region this year to eight, with the most recent being a Campbell County man and a child.

Recent flu activity in Northern Kentucky shows that the spread of the virus may be slowing down, but is still proving serious for some.

A total of 40 cases were reported for the week ending April 13, compared to 78 the previous week.

Through April 13, 2013, a total of 3,428 cases of flu have been reported in Northern Kentucky. This makes the 2012-2013 season the highest ever.
