High school students artwork being displayed at Fort Thomas Coffee

FORT THOMAS, KY (FOX19) - The Highlands High School Art Department is pleased to display artwork from its advanced art classes at Fort Thomas Coffee. The opening reception celebrating the student work will be at Fort Thomas Coffee on Friday, April 12 from 6-8pm, with the exhibit running from April 12 through April 15, 2013.

The show features work from 60 art students in Drawing and Painting, Advanced Art and Advanced Placement Art classes. Works include paintings, watercolors, drawings, digital photograph, engraving prints and more.

The show is open to the public. Fort Thomas Coffee is located on North Fort Thomas Avenue.

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - Art on the Levee Gallery is kicking off baseball season by hosting a new exhibition entitled, "Rooted Deep In the Soil of Cincinnati...A Passion for Baseball, Art and Inspiration,” by artist Chris Felex.

Chris' work has been featured on FOX19.

Chris Felix, a native of Cincinnati is known for his detailed paintings of Cincinnati Reds players. The exhibition is free and open to the public and will run March 23 - May 23.

The public is also invited to the opening on March 23rd from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Art on the Levee where they can meet Chris Felix and hear him speak about his paintings.

FORT THOMAS, KY (FOX19) - Art work created by Fort Thomas elementary schools students is being displayed at a special show held at the Campbell County Library location.

Students from Johnson, Moyer and Woodfill elementary schools have been selected to exhibit their work in the annual Fort Thomas Independent Schools District Art Show held at the Fort Thomas/Carrico Branch ibrary. An Opening Day reception will be held on March 3 from 4-6pm, and the show will continue to be on display through March 8.

Selected students from each of the three elementary schools will have their 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional artwork on display. The artwork featured demonstrates the outstanding talent of our young artists.

This display in our community will be open to the public at our local Fort Thomas library during normal library hours.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY (FOX19) - The hit Broadway musical adapted from the popular movie series Legally Blonde continues its run at NKU's Corbett Theatre.

The musiacl runs until Sunday, March 3.

This musical follows sorority star Elle Woods.  Elle doesn't take "no" for an answer, so when her boyfriend dumps her for someone "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

Hasan Davis Highlights Gateway Super Sunday Recruiting Fair Feb. 24

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) – Hasan Davis, commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice and a performer/youth advocate, will be featured at the third annual Super Sunday recruiting fair hosted by Gateway Community and Technical College Feb. 24.

Davis, who is also a motivational speaker, will reenact the experience of York, a slave who accompanied William Clark and Meriwether Lewis on their historic expedition to explore the American West.

Super Sunday is a free event that will occur Sunday, Feb. 24, beginning at 1 p.m. at Gateway’s Urban Center at 525 Scott Blvd. Covington. The event is open to the public and is co-hosted by the Ninth Street Baptist Church of Covington.

“Super Sunday has become an annual opportunity for Gateway to reinforce to all students that a quality education is the best preparation for a good job,” said Gateway President and CEO Ed Hughes.

LUDLOW, KY (FOX19) - The timeless themes in Robert Louis Stevenson's classic horror novel are explored in the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park’s hilarious Off the Hill production of THE TRAVELLING JEKYLL AND HYDE SHOW, by playwright Russell Davis. It will be performed at the Ludlow Theatre Home of Circus Mojo, 322 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY 41016 on Saturday, February 16, at 7:00PM as part of a free, open-to-the-public community event that will also highlight neighborhood talent and causes. Pre-show entertainment from area drama clubs, other groups and Circus Mojo will begin at 6:00PM

School House Rock presented by Highlands Middle School

FORT THOMAS, KY (FOX19) - Students from Highlands Middle School’s Theatre Department will take audiences back to their childhoods when they perform Schoolhouse Rock Live, a musical based on the Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, science and politics through clever, tuneful songs.

SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE! follows Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such songs as “Just A Bill,” “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly,” and “Conjunction Junction.”
