BELLEVUE, KY (FOX19) - The 2011 Bellevue Neighborhood Association's "Holiday on the Hill" home tour, this year focuses on six architecturally unique homes found in the Bonnie Leslie neighborhood of Bellevue.
This year's tour features two English Tudors, two American influenced Cape Cods and two Dutch Colonials, all refreshed and decorated for the holiday season. "Each year the Bellevue Neighborhood Association (BNA) chooses a different neighborhood to sponsor the tour, said Linda Fields BNA president. "This year's tour highlights Bellevue's youngest neighborhood with homes built from the mid to late quarter of the twentieth century". Though similar in age and square footage, this year's featured homes says something different to the visitor. Built some 60 plus years ago, each home has been updated with features such as new kitchens and baths while retaining the charm of original hardwood pegged flooring or decorative Rookwood tiled fireplace surrounds. Additional exciting exterior features, such as a sunken fire pit with surround sound or a rear garden with outdoor kitchen and a big screen TV, are sure to delight and surprise those who take the tour.
"We are very excited about this year's BNA home tour coming to our neighborhood. BNA does a wonderful job of promoting Bellevue through this tour", said homeowner Mary Jo Burkart. "Often people just drive through our neighborhood; but, this tour will give them a reason to visit and discover the rich variety of homes and people who live here," added son Kevin Burkart, whose home is also featured.
The homes chosen for this year's tour were selected for their architectural character and contribution to the streetscape. Homes located at 101,105, 206, & 215 Bonnie Leslie Ave, 912 Clayton Court and 108 Glazier Ave comprise the 2011 tour. Strolling Victorian dressed carolers and holiday refreshments add to the fun planned for this year's event.
