Auction to benefit WNKU during Shop Bellevue

BELLEVUE, KY (FOX19) - Bellevue Renaissance’s Art in the Park committee is hosting a silent art auction to benefit campus radi station WNKU. 

Artists and craftsman exhibiting at Art in the Park and a few friends of the station generously donated pieces to the auction.  The auction begins on Friday, September 7 at 6 pm during Shop Bellevue! at the new home of Mackey Advisors located at 601 Fairfield Avenue in Bellevue on the even of Art in the Park. 

Bids will close at the end of Shop Bellevue on October 5 at 9 pm.  Place your bids on great art and craft for WNKU, the major sponsor of Art in the Park, while taking in the transformative green rehabilitation of the building.

Award winning independent movie holding premiere in Newport

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - An upcoming movie premiere will have a local edge.

Scenes from locally produced movie The Black Dove were shot at Sugar N' Spice restaurant in Paddock Hills.

The premiere of this award-winning feature film is being held on Sunday, August 5 at AMC Newport on the Levee.

The film stars John Savage (The Deerhunter, Hair) and Sean Young (Bladerunner, No Way Out).

Tickets to the premiere can be purchased at Sugar N' Spice or the movie website www.theblackdove movie.com  .

FORT THOMAS, KY (FOX19) - Fort Thomas Independent Schools' are bringing their production of Willy Wonka Junior to the stage beginning on Thursday, August 2.

Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Junior follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy.

Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats: the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr.

American Idol finalist performing Newport's Thompson House

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - American Idol fans get a treat while local music gets another boost. Area rock act, ViFolly, will be sharing the Tommygun Theater stage with American Idol favorite, James Durbin, at the Thompson House, Sunday, July 15.

After placing fourth during the 10th season of American Idol, Durbin has continued to toured nationally and appear on national television. Durbin’s fans have rocked out to his performances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Live with Regis and Kelly, Today, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. James also released an album, Memories of a Beautiful Disaster, which debuted at number 8 on the Billboard Rock chart when it was released in November of 2011.

Hailing from Eaton, Ohio, ViFolly, is sharing the stage with Durbin. Formed by twin brothers, Matt and James Prather, ViFolly has toured nationally, opening for such acts as Hawthorne Heights, Bobaflex, Kip Winger, Taproot, and many more.

Block-BUSKER weekend ahead at Newport on the Levee

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - Newport on the Levee will host Big Show Busker Weekend from Friday, July 13 - Sunday, July 15. This three-day extravaganza is a free event featuring some of the best street performers in the United States and abroad. There will be circus-style acts, jugglers, magicians, musicians, escape artists, and so on putting up some of the best outdoor shows around.

What is a Busker, you may ask? A Busker is an individual who entertains the public in exchange for tips. This includes jugglers, magicians, musicians, balloon artists, dancers, and so much more.

The Friendship Concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. and each choir will perform 3 -4 songs, which will last approximately 15- 20 minutes.

Former Meals on Wheels driver sets the GPS for literature

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) – Senior Services of Northern Kentucky is supporting a former Meals-on-Wheels driver in his new vocation.

Charlie Phillips has written a book called Big Fat Granny, a story about growing up on his grandparents’ farm.

They are inviting you to join them for a book signing at the SSNK offices from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, May 25.  Refreshments will be provided.

Senior Service of Northern Kentucky is located at 1032 Madison Avenue in downtown Covington.
