NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - (BUSINESS WIRE) -  UpTech, Northern Kentucky’s business accelerator, application deadline is quickly approaching. The deadline to submit the next big business idea is this Friday, May 24.

The program launched in 2012, provides $50,000 in equity investment and is designed to attract and accelerate entrepreneurs’ ideas into a product that will attract customers by the end of an intense six month program.

Additionally, the six month program provides an executive mentor and a dedicated team of essential business professionals providing financial, law, accounting, sales, and marketing services.

UpTech’s attractive package of services appeals to startups and makes the connections needed for success. Services included:

NEWPORT, KY--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- UpTech, Northern Kentucky’s super business accelerator has opened the application process for UpTech II.

Launched in 2012, the intense, six-month accelerator program provides $50,000 in equity investment and is designed to attract and accelerate entrepreneurs who have the next big idea to make the world a better place.

As Tri-ED, Vision 2015 and Northern Kentucky University (NKU) continue their effort to build an informatics industry in Northern Kentucky, NKU will continue to support the community's business start-up effort that began in UpTech I.

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) -  UpTech, Northern Kentucky’s super business accelerator, announced on Wednesday that the application process for UpTech II is now open.

Available through the UpTech website (www.uptechideas.org), applications must be submitted online by May 24.  UpTech is seeking informatics companies comprised of driven entrepreneurs who feel they would benefit from acceleration in growth and development.

Companies with big ideas still in the ideation phase of development or companies with paying customers will be accepted.

Companies selected for UpTech II will be announced in July 2013.

Registration still open for NKU 'Spring into Service'

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY (FOX19) - The Northern Kentucky University Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement will host "Spring into Service" to marshal a corps of students, faculty and citizens for a morning of hands-on volunteering this Saturday, April 13.

            The center is collaborating with WNKU, the City of Highland Heights, Pantry of Hope of First Baptist Church, Highland Heights Community Gardens and Giving Fields (an organization who harvests fresh produce to benefit local food pantries and on-site feeding organizations).

            Sign-in and free breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. on NKU's campus. Students, faculty, alumni and staff along with members of the community will gather before dispersing to provide service to local nonprofit organizations and businesses. At noon, volunteers are invited to return to NKU for a free celebratory lunch.

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19)  — Gateway Community and Technical College and McHale’s Events and Catering are opening the doors to their new facilities at Odd Fellows Hall with a public reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20 at The Grand/Historic Odd Fellows Hall.

The event marks the kick-off of Gateway’s new Instructional Design and Learning (IDL) Technology associate degree program, the first of its kind in the nation. Guests will be able to visit the building’s fourth floor for an introduction to IDL as well as the college’s Visual Communications program, the Center for eLearning, and a tour of the innovative learning environment. These related disciplines intersect in preparing students for high-wage, high-demand jobs in information management fields.

Gregory B. Kenny, Chief Executive Officer, Brian J. Robinson, Chief Financial Officer and other members of senior management will host the meeting from 1pm - 4:30pm.

Mazak awarded $224,050 in KY WINS funding for Gateway Training

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) – Gateway Community and Technical College said today that Mazak Corporation has been awarded $224,050 in funds from KY WINS to provide skill upgrades for newly hired employees at its Florence manufacturing facility. Gateway will conduct the training, which is aimed at developing the new employees as CNC technicians, at its Boone Campus.  

“Gateway helps us sharpen our competitive edge by working with us to provide customized skill upgrades to our workforce,” said Mike Vogt, vice president of human resources and general affairs at MazakUSA. “We rely on Gateway to help us keep our current workforce up to date and as a source of well-trained new employees.”
