Enroll Now at Gateway to Benefit from Future Job Market

Covington, Ky. (Aug. 21, 2012) – Gateway Community and Technical College offers career and transfer education to prepare people for jobs in all of the region’s fastest-growing and highest-paying fields, and Gateway is accepting students now for fall terms that begin Sept. 10, Sept. 17, and Oct. 10.

According to a recently released report on the job outlook for 2020 in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region, 90 percent of the jobs paying above $33,130 a year will require some combination of post-secondary education, on-the-job training, and/or more than a year’s work experience.

The report, produced in collaboration by Vision 2015 and Agenda 360, shows that healthcare, education, business, finance and technology are the top five fastest-growing and best-paying fields for the future, with production occupations in the sixth spot.

Upgrade computer skills in fall classes at Gateway

FLORENCE, KY  – Gateway Community and Technical College is offering a variety of non-credit computer courses to help you learn or upgrade computer skills.

Microsoft Excel Level 1 will be offered Sept. 10, 12, 17, and 19 at a course cost of $99. Registration deadline is Sept. 4.

Microsoft Excel Level 2 will be taught Oct. 8, 10, 15 and 17 at a course cost of $99. Registration deadline is Oct. 1.

Microsoft Word Level 1 will be offered Nov. 5, 7, 12 and 14 at a course cost of $99. Registration deadline is Oct. 29.

All courses are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m.

Gateway Offers SHRM Human Resource Certification Prep Course

FLORENCE, Ky. (June 20, 2012) – The Workforce Solutions Division of Gateway Community and Technical College will offer the SHRM® Learning System human resources professional training course at its Boone Campus beginning Aug. 21.

The SHRM® Learning System Course offers an in-depth overview of key areas in human resource management. Materials include six modules that correspond to the six functional areas, responsibilities, and associated knowledge as defined by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). 

“The SHRM course is a powerful tool to assist people in preparing for the PHR or SPHR certification exams,” said Phil Accardi, director of Gateway’s Center for Workforce Development. “The course provides a solid foundation for managing the HR challenges in today’s demanding work environment.

Gateway Will Offer HVAC CEU Classes in July

FLORENCE, KY (June 22, 2012)—The Workforce Solutions Division of Gateway Community and Technical College has scheduled four continuing education courses in July for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technicians who have journeyman and master license(s).

The four-hour courses will take place on Saturday, July 21, at the college’s Boone Campus. The cost for each course is $60, and lunch is included in the registration fee. The registration deadline is Wednesday, July 18.

Participants must bring a photo ID and HVAC license(s) to class.

From 8 a.m. to noon, the two classes offered are: “Saving Energy @ Work/Workplace Security” and “Customer Service.” “Mold Awareness” and “First Aid, CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens” will be offered from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Kentucky license holders take a combination of CEU courses to equal eight hours.

Gateway Offers August Prep Course for HVAC Journeyman, Masters Test

FLORENCE, KY (June 18, 2012)—The Workforce Solutions Division of Gateway Community and Technical College has scheduled a preparatory course for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technicians who are preparing for the HVAC Journeyman and Masters test.

The 36-hour course will be offered on Saturday, August 11, August 18, August 25, September 8, September 15, and September 29, 2012. The course will take place at the college’s Boone Campus from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
