Kroger and Miller Poultry join forces to help less fortunate

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - On Tuesday, December 14th, the Cincinnati/Dayton Division of Kroger, in partnership with Miller Poultry will donate 10,000 lbs of chicken drumsticks, or nearly 8,000 meals, to the Society for St. Vincent de Paul.

The donation will help to feed hundreds of families in our community this holiday season.  “We have continued to look for ways to help support the efforts of our local food pantries this year,” said Geoff Covert, President of Kroger’s Cincinnati/Dayton Division, “The folks at St. Vincent de Paul demonstrate such a deep commitment to the families in need.  And that number continues to grow at a staggering rate.  The opportunity to partner with Miller Poultry for this donation was one more way Kroger can continue to lead the fight against hunger through the generosity of one of our valued vendors.”

The product will be loaded onto a truck at the Ft. Mitchell Kroger store located at 2176 Dixie Highway at 1:00 Tuesday afternoon and will then be transported to Saint Vincent de Paul.

“We are running behind reaching our target number for this season,” said Liz Carter, Executive Director at St. Vincent de Paul, “Christmas in only two weeks away and the supply on our shelves is not likely to meet the demand this year.  This donation brings us that much closer to feeding that many more of our families.  The generosity of our good friends at Kroger and our new friends at Miller Poultry is much needed and deeply appreciated.”
