Cold Spring Police join large DUI campaign | Crime

NEWPORT (FOX19) - Cold Spring Police and about four dozen other agencies are joining what is being billed as the largest ever joint drunk driving enforcement campaign in the Tri-State.

A police boat and motorcycle joined a small army of cruisers and officers Tuesday morning at Newport Festival Park on the Ohio River to promote the campaign.  There is also involvement from state safety agencies and the Hamilton County Health District.

Boyd Sigler, the state of Kentucky's Director of Highway Safety said "last year 203 deaths were the result of alcohol related crashes in kentucky...six occurred over the labor day holiday weekend. This year kentucky is teaming up with ohio to stop the most often committed and deadliest crimes." 

The slogan is the now-familiar "Drunk Driving: Over the Limit, Under Arrest" that is frequently seen in TV spots.
