Newport on the Levee introduces recycling expansion to merchants

Newport on the Levee introduces recycling expansion to merchants

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - Newport on the Levee (NOTL), in conjunction with All States Mall Services, has introduced a new, single-stream recycling initiative to the property’s merchants.

Newport on the Levee is expanding its recycling program by inviting merchants to participate in a new single-stream recycling program.  Single-stream recycling allows merchants to combine recyclables in one container rather than separating. Merchants may then deliver their recycling waste into one of two, 6-cubic yard recycling containers that will be located in two designated locations on the property.

This new program is a simple, earth friendly and efficient system.

NOTL’s introduction of the new, single-stream recycling initiative is part of an overall program toward becoming a “greener” property. In 2011, NOTL installed energy-efficient fluorescent light bulbs in the main parking garage.

Ohio River Sweep next month is looking for volunteers

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - It’s time for the annual cleanup along the Ohio River, and ORSANCO says your help is needed.  ORSANCO, the Ohio River Valley Sanitation Commission, based in the East End, says volunteers are needed for the River Sweep 2012 scheduled for Saturday, June 16, along the shoreline of the Ohio River and its many tributaries.

The River Sweep is a riverbank cleanup that extends the entire length of the Ohio River and beyond.  More than 3,000 miles of shoreline will be combed for trash and debris.  This is the largest environmental event of its kind and encompasses six states.

“The Ohio River Sweep is very important because for a few hours on one day volunteers can help make a difference in the appearance of this great natural resource,” said Jeanne Ison, Project Director.  “The Sweep has grown so much in the past few years, we’ve been able to expand the project to tributaries and feeder streams of the Ohio River.”
