FORT THOMAS, KY (FOX19) - The Fort Thomas Education Foundation will again host the Fort Thomas Holiday Walk for our district on Sunday, December 2, from 5:30-8pm. Stop by the central office for cookies and to see what’s happening in the Fort Thomas Independent Schools.

Highlands High School will also be open and will have several student groups participating by offering fun holiday activities for children, including arts and crafts and pictures with “Bluebird Santa.”

A victory celebration will begin immediately following the Holiday Walk on Sunday, December 2, at 8:15pm in the Highlands High School Performing Arts Center.

ALEXANDRIA, KY (FOX19) - The City of Alexandria is bringing in the holiday season with a public celebration on Friday, November 30.

Opening festivities will begin at 7pm with local radio personality Gary Burbank followed by a parade procession and the winners of the tree topper contest annoucement.

Other events incude; a live Nativity, pony rides, a train display, ice skating, live music and the lighting of the Christmas tree.

All events take place on Alexandria Pike near the old Thriftway building. The exact address is 7906 Alexandria Pike.

Annual East Row Victorian Christmas home tour in Newport

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - An annual tour of historic homes in Newport will transport sightseers back to the 19th century. 

The tour of private homes including a former mansion transformed into two spacious condos, will open their doors to the public during the 19th Annual East Row Victorian Christmas Home Tour from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday-Sunday, December 1 and 2 in the East Row Historic District in Newport.

The tour will showcase eight historic homes — five of which have never opened to the public — originally built for a descendant of the brother of George Washington, the proprietor  of a number of saloons on the Cincinnati waterfront, a Cincinnati porter, and the president of a machinery supply company. 

Tour tickets are $15 per person in advance at www,eastrow.org or $18 at The Sanctuary, 417 E. Sixth St. (at the northwest corner of Monroe and Sixth Streets).

FORT THOMAS, KY (FOX19) - Celebrating the holiday's in Fort Thomas will kick off with the annual Holiday Walk on Sunday.

The 12th annual walk is from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. on December 2.  "A Gingerbread Holiday" promises to put you into the holiday spirit as you experience the tree lighting at the Inverness tree at 5:30, Santa's arrival and all the beautiful experiences in each of our businesses throughout the Inverness and Towne Center Business Districts. 

There will be music and dancing of all sorts throughout the evening, the nativity will be displayed at our churches, and the kids can ride a large choo-choo train and play in the bouncy house at the Towne Center clock tower. 

Everyone is encouraged to bring mittens, gloves, coats, scarves and hats to Walkenhorst Insurance for the tree.  Those items are generously given to Brighton Center and the Salvation Army each year.

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - More than one million shimmering holiday lights are turned on to kick off the holiday season at Newport on the Levee on Tuesday. FOX19 will be live as Light Up the Levee Grand Illumination takes place on from 6-8 p.m.

Enjoy live holiday music, street performers, vendor booths and an appearance from Santa Claus. The Light Up the Levee display will continue nightly through January 2.

Communities across the country to participate in St. Jude walk

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area is serving as one of the 90 host cities for the St. Jude Give Thanks. Walk.

This family-friendly event will begin at the Newport side of the Purple People Bridge on Saturday, November 17. Local St. Jude patients and family members will be addressing the crowd and the Bellevue High School drum line will lead the walk beginning at 9am.

Participants can look forward to face painting, visiting with local mascots, music from a local DJ, and hearing local patient families speak.

The walk is nationally sponsored by New York & Co., Brooks Brothers and AutoTrader.com. Local sponsors include Erie Insurance, Seapine Software, Metro Communities and Cornerstone Brands. Volunteers from Epsilon Sigma Alpha and the University of Cincinnati will also be on site assisting with the event.

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - A unique way of viewing Santa is making its way back to Newport on the Levee.

Scuba Santa is returing for his ninth year at the Newport Aquarium on November 23. Annual passholders will have a preview of Scuba Santa on Saturday, November 17.

Scuba Santa will have mutiple showings daily and is included with general admission to the Newport Aquarium.

Hours for the Aquariuim include Saturday, Nov. 23, 2012 through Jan. 1, 2013. Regular Aquarium hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Open 9 a.m. Nov 23 and 24, and Dec. 26 through 31.)
