'Penguin Palooza' coming to Newport Aquarium

'Penguin Palooza' coming to Newport Aquarium

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - A new penguin exhibit is coming soon to the Newport Aquarium.

New Rockhopper penguins are joining the 28 King, Gentoo and Chinstrap penguins already on display. Rockhoppers are among the smallest of the world's penguins and are distinguishable from other penguin species due to their unusual color and cresting.

Visitors will have an opportunity to sit next to the 8,000 tank in a new seating area and come face to face with the penguins as they swim and play.

A new interactive area will allow visitors to learn more about penguin artifacts and take pictures of life size penguin sculptures. In addition, a new live show will entertain guests with penguin facts and animated penguin characters on a new HD video board.

Penguin Palooza opens Saturday, March 26 at 10 a.m. More information is available at www.newportaquarium.com.

Emerald Miles takes place in March of every year and it is dedicated to the memory of Dennis Stemler. Dennis was an energetic, caring young adult who found joy in living. He never let life get him down, but always reached for the stars as he overcame the many struggles associated with epilepsy. He took part in the Epilepsy Foundation's Camp Dream Catcher and teen support group, was active in his high school and ran on both his school's cross country team and in this race. On February 24, 2004, Dennis died unexpectedly from a seizure.

Your home may harbor hidden highs

Your home may harbor hidden highs

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Kids have been finding ways to get high for many years.  Activities like drinking, taking pills, or smoking pot are familiar concepts to most parents, but other trends keep parents guessing, with items like banana peels and bath salts in the headlines recently.

Drug prevention expert John Dail has a very unusual way of looking at what's in a home. Recently he went through the home of Sherry Delvecchio, the parent of a middle schooler.

Dail started under the kitchen sink, where he pointed out aerosol sprays as something that some kids use as a drug. "Anytime you can use an alternative to that, that's usually going to be the best type to use."

Next, Dail looked for danger in the spice cabinet.
