NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - Newport Aquarium will be open on Christmas and New Year's days. The Aquarium's hours of operation through the holidays are:

  • Dec. 20-22: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Dec. 23-24: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Dec. 25: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Dec. 26-31: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Jan. 1, 2013: 10 a.m to 6 p.m.
Scuba Santa shows will continue daily through Jan. 1, except for Christmas Day.

COLD SPRING, KY (FOX19) - Thousands of Legos® have been assembled into a massive and fantastic display by local enthusiasts Bettina Adams and Kenneth Smith.  The huge exhibit will feature Lego structures including a Medieval Village, superheroes such as Batman and Spiderman, and points of interest such as the Eiffel Tower and a giant Ferris wheel.  New this year is a military base with planes, hangars, old tanks and more in honor of servicemen and women and their families.

The Lego Display will be open to public viewing from 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15 and 16, at the Cold Spring Branch of the Campbell County Public Library.

ALEXANDRIA, KY (FOX19) - The City of Alexandria is bringing in the holiday season with a public celebration on Friday, November 30.

Opening festivities will begin at 7pm with local radio personality Gary Burbank followed by a parade procession and the winners of the tree topper contest annoucement.

Other events incude; a live Nativity, pony rides, a train display, ice skating, live music and the lighting of the Christmas tree.

All events take place on Alexandria Pike near the old Thriftway building. The exact address is 7906 Alexandria Pike.

Annual Holiday Walk in Fort Thomas

FORT THOMAS, KY (FOX19) - Celebrating the holiday's in Fort Thomas will kick off with the annual Holiday Walk on Sunday.

The 12th annual walk is from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. on December 2.  "A Gingerbread Holiday" promises to put you into the holiday spirit as you experience the tree lighting at the Inverness tree at 5:30, Santa's arrival and all the beautiful experiences in each of our businesses throughout the Inverness and Towne Center Business Districts. 

There will be music and dancing of all sorts throughout the evening, the nativity will be displayed at our churches, and the kids can ride a large choo-choo train and play in the bouncy house at the Towne Center clock tower. 

Everyone is encouraged to bring mittens, gloves, coats, scarves and hats to Walkenhorst Insurance for the tree.  Those items are generously given to Brighton Center and the Salvation Army each year.

Newport on the Levee ready to light up for the holidays

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - More than one million shimmering holiday lights are turned on to kick off the holiday season at Newport on the Levee on Tuesday. FOX19 will be live as Light Up the Levee Grand Illumination takes place on from 6-8 p.m.

Enjoy live holiday music, street performers, vendor booths and an appearance from Santa Claus. The Light Up the Levee display will continue nightly through January 2.

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - A unique way of viewing Santa is making its way back to Newport on the Levee.

Scuba Santa is returing for his ninth year at the Newport Aquarium on November 23. Annual passholders will have a preview of Scuba Santa on Saturday, November 17.

Scuba Santa will have mutiple showings daily and is included with general admission to the Newport Aquarium.

Hours for the Aquariuim include Saturday, Nov. 23, 2012 through Jan. 1, 2013. Regular Aquarium hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Open 9 a.m. Nov 23 and 24, and Dec. 26 through 31.)

General admission costs are Adult, $23. Child 2-12, $15. Under 2, Free. Annual passes cost Adult 13-64, $45. Adult Adult, $23. Child 2-12, $15. Under 2, Free.65+, $40. Child 2-12, $29. Under 2, Free

Freebies and discounts for veterans at Newport attractions

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - Veterans across the nation are going to be given a huge thank you this weekend for their services. In Newport, the Aquarium and Ride the Ducks tours are showing appreciation to the veterans.

Any member of the military or anyone who has served in the Armed Forces is welcome to show a Military I.D. or discharge document at the Newport Aquarium ticket window to receive free admission. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Additional family members can receive our everday military discount of $3 off adult tickets and $2 off children’s tickets, for up to four additional tickets per veteran.

Veterans and military personnel can also take our Ride the Ducks tours for half-price through Sunday, while up to four family members can get $2 off regular prices.
