Campbell County Public Library One Book, One Community Kickoff

ALEXANDRIA, KY (FOX19) - David Giffels and his family began a home improvement adventure years ago to restore a crumbling, nearly condemned Tudor mansion in Akron, Ohio. All the Way Home: Building a Family in a Falling-Down House, the 2011 Northern Kentucky One Book One Community selection , is a personal narrative of the humorous and sometimes maddening travails of Giffels and his family during this huge restoration project.

Their many adventures include nudging the elderly owner to vacate the premises and battling the wisteria vines, raccoons, squirrels and mice that have taken over the attic. Through the ups and downs, they are forced to deal with frustration, loss, perseverance and doubt.

ALEXANDRIA, KY (FOX19) - Residents of Alexandria will be heading out to the fair beginning on Wednesday. Washington Street will close to all traffic at that time.

Traffic safety was a grave concern last year as cars were moving about the large crowd on Washington up to the point the parade began. The Fair Board Staff and the City have work very hard together to make this a fun, safe event.

The Fair is open to everyone Wednesday, August 31 through Labor Day.  The fair has operated at the same location since 1856 and is one of the oldest fairs in Kentucky.
