New Cath names new head football coach | News

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19)- On Tuesday, Newport Central Catholic High School named Dan Wagner as its new head football coach.

Wagner, a
1978 graduate of Newport Catholic has been the Defensive Coordinator for the Thoroughbreds since 1999.

He began his coaching career at Newport Catholic in 1980 with the freshman team.

Wagner's past experience includes having previously coached at Campbell County High School, Norwood
High School and Indian Hill High School.

He returned to NCC in 1999 as an assistant coach under Bob
Schneider and more recently under Eddie Evistion.

Coach Wagner will fill the vacant position left by Eddie Eviston who has coached the Thoroughbreds for the
last three seasons.

In late December, Eviston accepted a position as Offensive Coordinator at Georgetown
College.
