ALEXANDRIA, KY (FOX19) -  A senior at Campbell County high school has never missed a day of class since Kindergarten.

Jordan Racke is being honored for having perfect attendance throughout his 13 years of school.

Funeral set for Ft. Thomas vet killed in Kabul

FT. THOMAS, KY (FOX19) - Funeral services are set for a Ft. Thomas man killed in Afghanistan.

Visitation for Michael Bradford will be Friday at the Ft. Thomas Mess Hall from 4:00 until 7:30.     

Funeral services will begin at 7:30.     

Bradford will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.     

Bradford was one of 15 people killed in a bombing while working as a contractor in Kabul.   

Bradford was a 2005 graduate of Highlands High School and an Army veteran.     

He and his wife found out they were expecting a son a week before he left for Afghanistan.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY (FOX19)- A mother who missed her college graduation in order to attend her daughter's dance recital received a surprise ceremony on Monday.

Lawsuit: City of Cincinnati deprived man of constitutional rights

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- A local free speech case has found its way to federal court.

Attorneys for Forest Thomer, of Cold Spring, have filed a lawsuit against the City of Cincinnati for false arrest, malicious prosecution and deprivation of constitutional rights.

Thomer was arrested in 2012 after an incident at Party at the Park. He asked attendees if they wanted "laugh at his crippled friend."

His friend, Allison Bruener, has muscular dystrophy and he was trying to promote her upcoming comedy show.

Thomer was acquitted in November of disorderly conduct.

New NKY distillery to be part of Bourbon Trail

BELLEVUE, KY (FOX19)- A multi-million dollar bourbon distillery is in the works in Bellevue, Kentucky.

It's located on The Party Source campus in Bellevue, adding to their brand.

"Born out of passion The Party Source has, and Kentucky's native spirit...this is where bourbon was invented," said distillery manager Jay Erisman.

Erisman says opening this distillery in "bourbon country" is a dream come true.

"Everyday you drive to work and you're like what is that what's new," said Erisman.

This soon to be three story building will have a roof deck for up to 150 people, a multimedia conference room, and more all centered around the distillery that will pump about 13 barrels of bourbon per day.

"We will be on the bourbon trail...thousands coming to visit us," said Erisman.

Ft. Thomas native killed in Afghanistan

FORT THOMAS, KY (FOX19)- A civilian contractor from Fort Thomas, Ky. was one of 15 people killed in an explosion that occurred Thursday in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Friends tell FOX19 that Michael R. Bradford was a 2005 graduate of Highlands High School and an Army veteran.

"Michael was a very engaging and enthusiastic personality," recalled Brian Robinson, principal at Highlands High School. "He was a guy who almost everybody really, really seemed to like and would gravitate to. He could make you smile and laugh at times that were difficult times. He just really, really connected with people."

Bradford was one of four employees of DynCorp who were working on the Combined Security Transition Command - Afghanistan (CSTC-A) when the explosion occurred. The explosion killed 15 people, including two U.S. soldiers and all four contractors. At least 35 people were wounded.

Gateway Urban Center Kicks Off Healthy Happy Hour Series

COVINGTON, KY — Gateway Community and Technical College has begun a new Healthy Happy Hour Series of fun, informative family activities at its Urban Center in downtown Covington at 525 Scott Boulevard. The activities are free of charge and open to the public.

“The activities are designed to help Covington become a healthier, happier community,” said Michael Lee, Gateway director of inclusion and cultural initiatives. “They are part of our outreach to bring the community into Gateway where we make success happen.”

The series began May 7 with Zumba classes that continue for another five weeks on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. “It’s not too late to come and have fun in these Latin-inspired, dance-fitness classes led by licensed instructor Y’Vonne Burkart,” Lee said.
