Bellevue Historic District to promote Honor Flight

BELLEVUE, KY (FOX19) - In celebration of Veteran’s Day, the public is invited to visit the unique merchants along Fairfield Avenue in the beautiful Historic District of Bellevue, KY as they join efforts in honoring Tri-State Veterans.  On Saturday, November 12th from 11-5PM, participating shops, galleries, boutiques and eateries - will be joining efforts in raising public awareness and much needed funds for Honor flight Tri-state.

The unique goal of this remarkable charity is to identify and locate surviving WWII Veterans and then escort them on an all-expense paid visit to Washington, DC. The veterans are given an all-out day of honor and remembrance, usually beginning and ending with a spirited fanfare send-off and landing at the airport. Each veteran is personally escorted onto and off the chartered jet by caring local volunteers and organizers who generously pay for their own trip expenses.

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The "Hungry Girl" of the Food Network, Lisa Lillian, will visit the Anderson Towne Center Kroger Store, located at 7580 Beechmont Rd. Cinti, OH. 45255 on October 19th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. 

Lillian will be autographing her book Supermarket Survival, answering questions, offering free samples and hosting a raffle. 

Autographs will be limited to copies of Supermarket Survival only; books must be purchased at Kroger, and customers must provide a valid Kroger receipt to have their books signed.

Kroger provides details, asks you to check for recalled beef products

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The Kroger Co. stores in the Cincinnati and Dayton areas are asking customers to check their refrigerators and freezers for 5 lb. chub Kroger Ground Beef 73% Lean 27% Fat and Kroger Beef Patties with a "best before or freeze by" date of September 12, 2011. 

This ground beef is part of a recall announced by Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. 

Kroger customers can visit www.kroger.com/recall for the list of products subject to the recall sold in Kroger’s family of stores. The Tyson website lists all of the affected products and retailers. 

Kroger has removed affected items from store shelves and initiated its customer recall notification system. Customers who may have purchased the affected products will receive register receipt messages and/or automated phone calls.

EDGEWOOD, KY (FOX19) - The new St. Elizabeth CardioVascular Mobile Health Unit will be offering stroke and cardiovascular screenings at locations throughout Northern Kentucky during the month of October.

Sponsored by the Bank of Kentucky, and made possible by the generous support of John C. Holmes, M.D., along with contributions from St. Elizabeth 2008-2010 Vision employee donors, the new mobile health van brings technology and expertise for diagnosing cardiovascular disease, stroke and diabetes to where people live, work and play.

Using state-of-the-art ultrasound technology, the new mobile unit can perform an array of on-site tests aimed at detecting all manner of risky health conditions including carotid artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm and high blood pressure.

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - Sample the food and stay for the fun: The fifth annual Taste of the Levee returns to Newport on the Levee (NOTL) on Saturday, September 24th.

Taste of the Levee invites visitors to indulge in palate-friendly food options from a variety of Levee eateries including: Bar Louie, Brio Tuscan Grille, Brothers Bar & Grill, Claddagh Irish Pub, Cold Stone Creamery, Dewey’s Pizza, Jax Grill at GameWorks, Jefferson Hall, Mitchell’s Fish Market, Saxbys Coffee, Star Lanes on the Levee, StoneBrook Winery, and Tom + Chee. Each food sampling is $3 or less and sampling will take place from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Beer proceeds will benefit the Knights of Columbus Mother Seton Council 3376.

The fun doesn’t stop there! While browsing through the food booths, festival-goers may listen to the sounds of live music from Chuck Brisbin and the Tuna Project (10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) and area favorite The Whammies (3:00 p.m.

Fabulous Thunderbirds will land in Fort Thomas Saturday

FORT THOMAS, KY (FOX19) - This Saturday is the annual Merchants & Music Festival in Fort Thomas.  

The event puts local businesses front and cater, along with four bands chosen to bring great entertainment.  

Tupelo Honey will begin the day at 4:00.  They will be followed by The Rusty Griswolds and then G. Miles & the Hitmen.  Finally, at 9:00 The Fabulous Thunderbirds will take the stage.  

Fort Thomas Pizza and the Midway Cafe are providing beer sales.  DEP's will be selling wine.  They will have food from Habanera, Gold Star, Sarelli's, Snappy Tomato, and Fort Thomas Pizza.  Lots of vendors will be giving away items and there will be some for sale.  Unless you want to sit on the ground because you're "Tuff Enuff", as the Fabulous Thunderbirds songs say, you should bring a chair.

EDGEWOOD, KY (FOX19) – Unlike several years ago, there is no shortage of the flu vaccine being reported this year. 

The Northern Kentucky Health Department says people should take advantage of that by getting one soon.
