Locomotion dances its way into Newport on the Levee

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - Ready for a fun, fast-paced dance and exercise experience? Newport on the Levee announced the grand opening of Locomotion on the Levee.
This new, high-energy studio will celebrate its grand opening celebration on Friday, September 9th at 6:30 p.m.

“The opening of Locomotion on the Levee is a shining example of how Newport on the Levee continues to build its diversity of entertainment options to remain one of the area’s top attractions,” stated Harold Dull,
General Manager of Newport on the Levee.

Locomotion on the Levee offers a wide variety of dance classes including salsa, tango, ballroom, belly dancing, tribal dancing, flamenco and break dancing. The studio also offers exercise classes such as yoga, pilates,
and zumba; as well as classes with more of a “creative spin” including Yoga Groove (yoga with live drumming) and ZumbAtomic.

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - The U.S.S. Nightmare, billed as America’s premier haunted steamboat, will be open Riverfest Day on Sunday, September 4.

Built on a real steamboat, the USS Nightmare is annually one of the area’s longest and highest rated attractions.  Come aboard, if you dare, on Riverfest Day and be among the first to experience this year’s tour of the Tri-state’s annual Halloween favorite.

There will be a special Riverfest Day discounted ticket price of $10 per person. (For bigger savings, tickets can be bought online before Riverfest Day for $8.)  In-person ticket sales will begin at 3:30 p.m., and the show will be open from 4:00 p.m. to 8 p.m.

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - In celebration of a successful summer at River Downs, the track will once again have a Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday.  In addition, River Downs will open its gates a half-hour early and racegoers will get to see the final race of a local legend - Eagle Time.

For Fan Appreciation Day fans will get to select their own giveaway prize, free with the purchase of a program.  The track will offer collectors mugs, umbrellas, bobbleheads and t-shirts, while supplies last until 3:00 p.m.

Saturday is Travers Day at Saratoga and they will begin simulcasting their first race at 11:30 a.m. Gates will open early at 11:00 a.m.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Bob Evans Restaurants is giving fans another reason to cheer on the Reds this season.

For every Reds win this season, fans 12 and under will receive a free Bob Evans Kids Meal with adult entrée purchase on game days...and the following day as well.  Just mention that the Reds won the night before or that day at the checkout. No ticket stub required.

Fans can also purchase a Reds Heads Kids Club kit at Bob Evans.  Bob Evans restaurants are also offering membership kits for the Reds Heads Kids Club, the official fan club for Cincinnati Reds fans ages 14 and younger.

RiverBlast 2011 Benefit Offers Best Seats for Fireworks

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) —Enjoy the WEBN-Cincinnati Bell Labor Day weekend fireworks from air-conditioned comfort at the Newport Aquarium and support a good cause at the same time!

Reserve tickets now for RiverBlast 2011, the second annual fundraiser hosted by the Gateway Community and Technical College Foundation. Proceeds support the Foundation, which works to enhance the programs and services of Gateway Community and Technical College.

The public is invited to join the festivities that begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, September 4, and view the fireworks from the best seats on the river. Ticket price includes appetizers, a penguin encounter, a sit-down dinner, and a private terrace for fireworks viewing with security, perfect seating for every guest, and much more! Guests will also have full use of the Aquarium with all it has to offer.

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - River Downs will host a "Ladies Day" on Saturday that will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Cincinnati.  The free day-long event will feature a giveaway of 200 "Goodie Bags" with items provided by many of the vendors that will be at the track. 

Looking to hit the daily double?  Certified Medium Communicator Deborah Williams will be in attendance and may help you find your fortunes in life.  The track will serve up a new rum-based drink named "The Pink Flamingo" to go with the colorful spirit of the afternoon.  There will be a Silent Auction featuring items from Mitchell's Day Spa, Jeff Ruby's Restaurant, Limelight Photo Works, Cincinnati Reds, Kings Island, the Montgomery Inn, artist Ron Lightner and quality Gift Baskets from the various vendors.

TAYLOR MILL, KY (FOX19) - The Northern Kentucky Scott High School 2011 boys soccer team is holding their second annual Scott Christian Memorial Tournament this weekend. Scott Christian was a starting varsity player for the Boone County High School Rebels soccer team who died in October 1992 while playing the game he loved.

The current Scott High School coach, Casey Seibert, was a teammate and life-long friend of Scott's.
