Sales of ‘In God We Trust’ license plate top 100,000

Sales of ‘In God We Trust’ license plate top 100,000

FRANKFORT, KY (FOX19) - Kentuckians have purchased more than 100,000 standard license plates bearing the national motto, “In God We Trust,” since the plate was introduced in January as a no-added-cost option for passenger vehicles.

The sales represent 16.5 percent of total standard-issue license plate sales, according to the Department of Vehicle Regulation in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

2011 is the first year that Kentucky motorists registering passenger vehicles have had a choice between two standard-issue license plates.  Both feature the “Unbridled Spirit” brand, but one plate also bears the motto, “In God We Trust.”

Both plates are available in county clerk offices for the standard-issue fee of $21 each. Unlike a special license plate, there is no extra fee for a standard-issue plate.

Sales of the “In God We Trust” plate thus far in 2011 totaled 103,519 at the close of business on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

275/471 ramp closing is traffic threat Monday

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY (FOX19) - A ramp closing that started Friday evening and runs from now until October 9th presents the possibility of traffic problems big enough that both Kentucky and Ohio transportation departments are talking about it.

The ramp from Eastbound 275 to northbound 471 is closed for reconstruction as of 8:00 p.m. Friday evening, September 23rd.

This ramp will be closed for 16 days.  Due to this ramp closure, motorist should expect delays on I-75 NB and I-275 EB, especially during morning rush hour.  ODOT things this will be especially bad during the first workday morning on Monday.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says motorists should plan to use alternate routes such as: I-75 NB, KY 9, I-471 SB to US 27 N, I-275 EB to Kellogg Ave.

The second project starts where the previous one stops, running across Campbell County from Wilder to the Ohio River bridge.  This is also for repaving, and is also supposed to be done by December 1st.

Both of these projects include median barriers to prevent head-on crashes from cars crossing the interstate.

With those projects done, a new repaving project will start April 1st.  It will
